Shroud is a series assembled from a body of portraits, all of which are inspired by real-life incidents. While every composition portrays a close-up of a face, notes of tension and unease through the mimics, light and positioning; demonstrate the absence of the “bigger picture”.

‘Shroud’ looks at the regenerative aspects of memory. It relies on that significant human understanding that is gained via lived experiences and would go beyond the repressive and oppressive nature of media and directed information to seek and find the truth. It suggests that humans are capable of retrieving “reality” in its immediate absence; through its traces within their own experience.

This series invites the viewer to take a moment, claim space, trust their instinctive notion and find the story within the image.

By combining fluid and translucent mediums -such as ink- on delicate but strong surfaces -such as Stone-paper- ‘Shroud’ highlights the ambiguity of memory.
