Golnar Tabibzadeh is a Berlin-based visual artist, storyteller, art coach, and art researcher.
Having graduated with a BA in Visual Arts from Tehran Azad University of Arts and Architecture in 2005, Tabibzadeh began her artistic career by primarily focusing on painting as the core embodiment of her work.
Tabibzadeh’s paintings are dissections of her surroundings—reflections of real-life matters and characters stripped of their external persona and social skin to expose a more essential and raw nature. In her work, Tabibzadeh suggests that beneath the regulated, integrated qualities of our social norms lies a collective desire for untamed, intuitive, and rough human qualities that remain shared yet unexposed.
In her more recent and ongoing projects, Tabibzadeh expands the content of her artworks beyond personal, real-life narratives, applying a critical eye to social issues such as womanhood, displacement, and trauma. These projects take the form of research-based visual documentation and the archiving of stories from individuals who have experienced trauma in the contemporary era.
Parallel to her work as a visual artist, Tabibzadeh has also been active as a curatorial manager and art educator.
